How to edit the geographic areas a lawyer serves
The areas a lawyer serves are the geographic areas where they are willing to meet with and represent clients in person. Lawyer coverage areas can be edited by both the administrator and (if the optional feature is enabled) the lawyer. As an administrator, you can edit a lawyer's coverage area by visiting the "Lawyer” tab of your dashboard, selecting a lawyer card, and clicking on the "Coverage Area" section header.
To add a specific region to a lawyer's coverage area: Select the county you want to add (e.g. "Bronx County") or select a county and then a subdivision within that county (e.g. "Bronx borough") and then click "Add".
A few notes about coverage areas:
- If you want a visual reference that displays counties or county subdivisions: Go to http://www.usboundary.com/Tools/Data On Map and select "County" or "County Subdivision" from the "Select Area Type" dropdown. Next use the dropdowns to select the place you want to see those units of geography mapped onto and click the "Render" button near the bottom of the page.
- If you want to add additional counties or county subdivisions to the list of areas from where lawyers can serve prospective clients: Please contact the Community.lawyer team and we'll update your portal promptly.
